You're a virgin who can't drive

As Clueless is undeniably one of the greatest movies of all time and as it was made in the single greatest year of all time and the 90's was just generally a fantastic era, I thought I'd write a post about how fantastic the costume designers of Clueless or rather, the designers of the 90s were.

Every so often, popular culture goes through an 'everything old is new again' phase and at the moment, it would appear that the 90's is the new cool thing. I'm beyond thrilled about this because the 90's is seriously such an under appreciated era and if Clueless isn't proof enough of that, then need I mention the wonders of Space Jam, Destiny's Child and the Spice Girls? Funnily all of my examples showed great evidence of the 90's being rad.

But 90's fashion is back (well in my eyes at least) and I'm just going to mention things that are beyond cool. Loose spaghetti strap singlets - coupled with a strapless bra, these singlets are just brilliant. I've stolen about 3 from my mum, when she bought them they were for pyjamas but the silk fabric is just wonderful and I can't even describe how much I love this style. Cropped spaghetti strap singlets are equally as cool and ever so 90's.

Cher and Dionne also totally rocked the top button up style before it was even in, and own the effortlessly chic school look with cute stationary, fabulous hair accessories and just a general air of coolness about them, really it's no wonder they were the coolest at their school. Dionne is seriously one of the most gorgeous people I've seen in my whole life and her experimentation with clothes is just beautiful. She kind of reminds me of my friend only with a bit more attitude.

But Clueless weren't alone with their fantastic costume department, such TV shows as Lizzie McGuire, Friends and even The Fresh Prince of Bel Air totally nails the 90's hiphop look. This begs the question, why wasn't I born 10 years earlier so that I could experience the 90's as a teenager. I'm going to pass the blame onto my parents because I seriously believe that I would've been the Cher Horowitz of my school but now that's just a failed dream.

Another 90's trend I'm diggin' (also note the 90s lingo I'm using) is 90's grunge! Now, despite the fact that many of the grungey youth of the 90's resembles hobos, the flanno was totally a statement. Similarly, overalls which not only are beyond comfortable but they are cute and make you look like an artist. Printed high waisted shorts were also so fabulous back then and as I recently bought a pair for a solid $8.00, I can safely say that I would've fitted in in the 90s.

Essentially the 90's were full of fashion hits and misses but as I've got a 90's haircut I feel a rejuvenated passion for the era, a passion that my four year old self didn't grow to have, regretfully so.

But whatever, I'm outie.

Make up

Now, I don't wear makeup all that often because mostly I'm just horrendously lazy and don't really know what to do when it comes to manifesting something fabulous out of eyeliner and lipstick. But in saying this I absolutely adore the idea of makeup worn in a sophisticated way. I don't necessarily condone wearing layers and layers of thick foundation but a statement lip or eye can seriously go along way in flattering the already lovely facial features.

And as Summer is looming the bright tropical colours are being brought out too. Particularly vibrant pinks, oranges and reds but the more subdued pastally tones are also working wonders on the Spring racing scene and in creating a more naturalistic makeup style, I firmly believe it makes people feel more comfortable as there's no worry of getting lipstick on your teeth or overdoing the eyeliner. And when people feel comfortable they radiate confidence, making them look even lovelier.

Another point I'd like to make is about eyebrows. Now, when you think about it eyebrows are seriously so strange yet they're such a key part of one's face. I honestly think that someone's eyebrows can make or break someone's appearance, which sounds awful but when someone has to draw on their eyebrows I think I have the right to slyly judge them. That's not where I'm headed with this point though, I'm far more interested in striking, fierce eyebrows like Bambi's which, are so easy to achieve at home that it's not even funny. All you need is a natural (depending on your hair colour) eyeshadow and something to act as an eyebrow brush. It's seriously amazing how you can enhance your features at home and I think people need to be doing that more often than they are.

So many people hide their freckles or imperfections with foundation and while obviously everyone has insecurities, everyone's human and without a doubt you'd look 100 times nicer embracing you for you. I know all too well how easy it is to go wild with concealer when you're trying to look fab for a party, but at the end of the day if you're trying to impress people with your 'perfect' skin tone then they're not really worth impressing at all. And this is going to sound so lame and whatever but if you're hanging out with the type of people who would judge you for a pimple or blemish then they're not worth your time because 99.9999% of people wouldn't take a seconds notice at your scar that you got from falling up an escalator in a freak accident when you were 14 and those who do are probably so full of their own insecurities that they pick out other people's flaws to make themselves feel better. Flaws that aren't even really flaws because they're what makes us who we are.

So please can people start not covering up their freckles because
a) freckles are so in at the moment
 b) it's always awkward when you don't rub in your foundation properly or don't get a colour that suits your skin tone
and
c) you're undoubtedly gorgeous freckles and all

Aaaand that was the world's biggest digression but I'll just post some pictures to lighten the mood from that emotional paragraph of makeup styles that I seriously adore.

If I had the balls to bleach my eyebrows for a brief stint I seriously would, this is so great.

Also as a side note Cara Delevingne is my favourite model at the moment and her eyebrows rock

Bright lips and nude eyes

I'm dreadful

I'd just like to start by apologising profusely to everyone who occasionally checks out what I post for not posting anything in almost two months. I've just started year 12 and it's insanely busy but I promise I'll post more now that I've kind of figured out how to organise time.

And I know I promise this every time I post something but I really need to study because failing General Maths would be an awful career move but I absolutely promise I'll post something fantastic within the next few days!

Until then, here's a photo of my haircut. Please ignore that it's a selfie and I look ridiculous.
But yay short hair!

Home is wherever I'm with you

So my long awaited trip to Thailand came and went and as I was welcomed home this morning to Sydney's beautiful weather I thought I'd write a dedication post to everything I bought over in Phuket.

........it's not that simple though, it's never that simple because I am still jet lagged and can't really type properly so stay tuned for tomorrow where there will be a detailed post about just how amazing this shopping endeavor to Phuket was.

Spring has Sprung!

Exams are finally over so sorry to everyone (all three of you) who have been after a post since my last, but the past few weeks have been non-stop sun and despite the rain dampening the post-exam celebration it finally feels like we might actually have a proper Summer in Sydney this year!
But I won't get too ahead of myself because Spring is my favourite time of year, there's flowers, baby animals, the beach, markets and of course Mercedes Benz Fashion Week where the Spring/Summer collections are released and everyone's happy. And of course the fact that my birthday is in Spring and I love my birthday a lot more than most people, it's really just a great time of year.

My Seventh Wonderland swimming costume is
this shape but with a different pattern.
And, this time in two weeks I'll be living it up in Thailand which really is kind of the inspiration for this post. Now procrastination is almost my middle name, sometimes I even procrastinate procrastinating but the other day I did something productive when I should've been studying for my maths exam - I went through my swimmers (tonks, cossies, swimwear, beachwear, swimsuit..as you will) and while going through my swimmers I found a total of 7 pairs. This is a new record for me an I'm ultra excited and so I thought I'd write about swimmers simply because I want to.

At the Big Fashion Sale a few months ago I picked up this absolute gem of a swimming costume, it's a Seventh Wonderland one piece which retailed for a lot more than I paid for it. And on top of that, it's very aesthetically pleasing. Most of my swimmers are heavily discounted which is more good luck than anything else but the last three pairs have cost under $80 which is insane for swimmers. Especially for a brand like Seafolly or Tigerlily.

Which brings me to my next point...I wish I had more money to buy more clothes! I went into Tigerlily the other day and was nearly brought to tears at how major my first world problems are. A standard swimming costume is about $200. ie. Two weekends pay (assuming I work both days on the weekend for 5 hours each) I think that this is ridiculously overpriced and I might just sue the manufacturers, not really though I'm just more sad over my financial situation at the moment than anything but online shopping makes up for it so it's okay.

A really really really like the 1930's style bikini's with the high waist and prettiness, I love strapless bikini's because it doesn't make an awkward tan, I love underwired swimmers because they're just a lot more shaped which is nice and I love bright colours and patterns. I just want this rain to end so I can sun bake at Bondi and look fabulous in my ever growing range of swimmers.

(Above) Two styles that I adore, it doesn't have the high waisted which to some extent can be unflattering but still retains the 1930's elegance.

Very expensive Tigerlily Bikini that has a really nice fabric but not sure about the style.

Shoes

My love for shoes is one that has been passed down from my mum. At last count she had over 50 pairs and now, my goal in life is to have more than that. At the moment I have around 25ish pairs, I would have more but my feet are only now starting to stop growing so I have always been apprehensive to splash out and buy heaps of pairs. But, this is destined to change with my ever-growing wish list reaching it's peak of 10 styles..just of summer shoes. So as I'm procrastinating from studying as I feel my future will be spent marrying a wealthy man who can afford to pay for my clothes addiction, I've decided to share my three favourite shoe styles for this spring/summer.

Now to begin with, a style that began to come in last year with Wittner's 2011 Summer range..the platform. Oh my love for platform shoes, for me it all began earlier this year when my friend and I were shopping and I tried on some platform converse. Initially I was bewildered at the style but tried on the shoes for a giggle, I don't even know what it was about them but I was amazed and then on have been yearning for a pair. Today, while at Sportsgirl I bought an all-white, low cut pair of sneakers with a semi platform. But, the platform just isn't high enough. I don't even know what it is, now I'm considering creepers which were something that I steered well away from as I associated them with scene kids. I think it's the added height without being too overbearing that I like. Also, I feel like a Spice Girl when I wear then which is an added bonus. Either way, it seems as if platforms will be a big contender in Sydney's fashion world this season with major stores stocking them and fashion icons wearing them.

Next, are shoes that almost every person born or raised in the 90's will relate to. The Jelly Sandal. Jelly shoes were my childhood shoe, when I look back on photos of my younger self I'm almost always sporting a pair. For a while though, I'd forgotten about the humble jelly shoe until in year 6 when my mum bought me a pair of jelly ballet flats, they had a slight heel and I wore them to year 6 camp - feeling ultra trendy in the process. But of course, it wasn't really until the lovely Niamhy 'Fashion Icon' G bought a pair herself that I really remembered just how fabulous the jelly sandal was. Since then I've been scouring through the internet and have found the ideal pair for me, only they've sold out of my size. Which is typical my luck, but nonetheless has only strengthened my desire for a pair of clear jelly sandals to wear in the summertime and whilst in Thailand that will just make me look that much cooler than everyone else.

Now, for a slightly dressy shoe that again I have been after for a little while now. Whilst shopping on Oxford St a couple of months ago I spotted a pair of shoes in Gorman. Now, Gorman is beautiful and like most beautiful things it is also expensive. But, the 'molly' shoe is one that is absolutely worth every cent. You see at the present I am five foot nine and a half. Which is fairly tall, and because of this I am always self conscious of wearing too high heels because I always tower over everyone else. (At my formal I was taller than my date....) I think the fact that I chose to wear high heels over being shorter than my date really just highlights how I put fashion over probably more important things. But these shoes are the perfect height and are so comfortable because of the platform and as orange is my new favourite colour it's a win-win for everyone. And, as an added bonus I went into Gorman today and the shoes are reduced to $150 which I believe is fate and because my birthday is in 47 days I think I'll ask to get them for my birthday. I think me and these shoes are meant to be.

Upon re-reading this post I've noticed that all of these shoes are a classic re-visit to the 90s. I seriously wish I was born 5 years earlier so I could've had more time in such a fantastic era like honestly, who doesn't love scrunchies, turtle necks and platforms? No one would be the appropriate answer to that question.

Thanks for reading!

Trends I hate.

As every new season roles around, I'm always eager to see what see what's new in the fashion world. Mostly, I can't complain about what people wear because as a whole, I like clothes too much to the point that I try to find nice things in each outfit. But, there are cases where I genuinely am close to tears when I see what people are wearing. Really, I'm not a perfect dresser with an immaculate dress sense but when you see someone holding bags from the likes of Supre and ICE I feel it's my duty to judge them.

Firstly, the mullet skirt. I've let my feelings toward mullet skirts known in the past, I let the grudge go when I thought that their reign of terror was over but then, while shopping with my mum on the weekend I saw a mannequin wearing a mullet skirt and all of my worst fears came back to haunt me. Mullets were dead and buried at the end of the 90s, the business in the front and party in the back slogan is gone. Please stop trying to relive the past by designing a skirt that is remnant of a shocking hairstyle that really only lads sport these days. Then don't make it 'classy' by changing the fabric to chiffon, it's still a mullet skirt whether you like it or not. There comes a time where people need to make decisions and I honestly believe that the time has well and truly come to decide between wearing a maxi-skirt or a short skirt. Not two in one.

My next point is one relatable to many Australians, Jeggings. The awkward mix of jeans and leggings so lovingly supported by Supre. No, No No, Jeggings are seriously the satan of my fashion style. If you want to wear jeans, wear jeans and if you want to wear leggings, wear leggings. The person who thought it was clever to combine the two must have been in close association with the designer of the mullet skirt. Seriously, I'm really not enjoying how far the jegging craze has come. If you walk into many shops now you'll find not only the standard jegging, but jeggings of all shapes, colours and sizes. I was even misfortunate enough to find a jegging skirt. The jegging is made just that much worse when paired with ugg boots and a tight singlet top. Why is my life so hard?

Now, this next trend doesn't evoke the same powerful emotions as the previous two but I think it's more of a crime against humanity if not anything else. The Pemplum top, now in theory this is a lovely and simple top that adds sophistication to an outfit but not too much to the point where you look like you're trying to hard. In all design aspects, I don't even really hate it. The problem is, just how unflattering the shape is. No matter how thin you are, this top makes your hips look about the size of a bus. And, you know, some people might like this if they naturally are very thin and want an hourglass figure but when people wear it and it just makes them look not as nice as they should it just makes me sad. The dilemma is, that because most Australian chain stores stock the style now people are buying the shirt despite how it looks simply because it's 'in'. Really, I cannot stress this enough - do not buy clothes that look dreadful on you because it's in. Honestly, take me as an example, even though light pastels are in I won't be rocking this trend because the combination of my naturally pale skin and pale colour scheme makes me blend into a wall. And let's face it...who wants that?

four eyes

When I got glasses in year 8 I felt like the gawkiest loser and decided then and there that I'd never wear them. Until the lady working in SpecSavers told me to enter this 'SpecWearer' competition thing that would make me the face of SpecSavers or something, I still felt like a gawky loser so declined the offer which I regret because I could be brushing shoulders with famous people all from a glasses advert.

But I digress, the point of this post isn't to brag about my almost-if-only glasses wearing career but to discuss the new trends of both sunglasses and your standard glasses. Both of these items I have strong views on as people are wearing clear lenses to rock the glasses look and others (like me) are unfortunate enough to have eyesight that needs work. I've been in denial about needing to wear glasses since I got them, my first pair were these lame rectangular tortoiseshell ones that my mum talked me into getting. But glasses are becoming more and more un-lame and trendy so I've decided to buy a new pair of glasses which not only will help me see but will also help me rock the new trends.

The Rayban-esque style is still here and everyone seems to love it, some faces just don't suit it though in glasses or sun glasses form. I'm more captivated by Marc Jacobs' range of eyewear which has me seeing stars.

It's oh so fierce and oh so powerful that I'd feel oh so trendy in them. I love the cat eye sort of look that's appearing in both sunglasses and glasses alike but I feel like I don't have the face to pull it off.
Which brings me to my next point, people really need to wear glasses that suit their faces! Just because a certain style is in fashion does not mean it will suit your face. If you have a roundish head, don't wear round glasses as you will just heighten the roundness of your head and it just would look silly.

Note how her angular features are just pronounced and she looks phenomenal! But also, sunglasses. Sunglasses are my love, I love how they can hide dodgy makeup, protect your eyes from the sun, add depth to an outfit and make you look mysterious and all the more glamourous. Seriously, I'm such a huge advocate of sunglasses and should get more pairs but I have neither the time or money.
Until I go to Phuket and stock up.

I would just like to thank the beautiful Niamh for figuring out the templates and making my blog look pretty. Not only is she completely fabulous at blog templates but she has an amazingly keen eye for fashion and has her own line of clothes (all 100% designed and hand made by her!) she experiments with colour and trends and the end result is always stunning. (apart from the curtain shorts) I cannot thank you enough, Niamh and if everyone could check out her blog there are links to her etsy stores where you can buy an original favio and fran creation!

fur

Recently I've been so conflicted between my animal liberation and love for fashion, as Sydney is cooling down the coats are being brought out. This season particularly, I've been seeing so much fur and it's making me want to get a fur coat of my very own. They're such a statement item and can dress up any outfit so beautifully. Although, a couple of years ago we found my great grandmothers fur coats and at the time I was completely appalled so made my mum throw them out but now looking back I wished we kept them so I too, could be ultra trendy with a nice coat, even in saying this I'm not sure if I could bring myself to wear real fur, even though fake fur is so poorly crafted in comparison. Which is where I'm conflicted, since I watched babe as a four year old I became interested in animal rights, having attempted to be a vegetarian so many times, volunteering at the zoo, donating money to animal charities and even now rarely eating meat. I just don't know what to do, leather is practically the same and I wear leather shoes and if the coat's vintage.. it really doesn't make any difference.

This confliction is only heightened with a page found in my diary that I wrote when we found my great grandmothers coats it says "today we found mum's grandmothers fur coats, i can't believe they wore fur back then. haven't they seen 101 Dalmatians?" Would it really make me Cuerella De Vil if I bought a fur coat? Her last name answers that question. I'll stick to Bindi Irwin's views for this battle, maybe I'll find a realistic faux-fur coat to tide me over to when I don't have a conscience anymore.
Despite being completely evil, Cuerella De Vil is pretty ultra-glam.

Piercings

It took my mum twelve years to allow me to get my ears pierced, it seemed like an eternity when all my friends had their ears pierced but I didn't. In retrospect, I can understand where she was coming from but since getting my ears pierced she has been adamant in her decision to stop me from getting more piercings. Which you know, usually for most people - wouldn't stop them from getting whatever piercings they want. But I always feel so bad when discussing it that I've forced myself to forget about the idea, but it doesn't work because everyone keeps getting really cool piercings and I'm just here trying to convince myself that it wouldn't make me the worst person in the world if I got an auricle piercing.

I've wanted an auricle piercing since about year nine, and unlike my want for a nose piercing then later a belly button piercing I've actually remained keen to the idea two years on. I also really like piercings that go right up the ear with the same sort of earrings in each piercing, but I think that might be pushing my mum's limit. Okay well this is a completely irrelevant post that I'll finish off with some pictures of people's ears that I like.

Abbey-Lee Kershaw, she's generally an all round gorgeous person but her ear arrangement is just fab.

Auricle Piercing

I found this on tumblr, it looks so cool.

Also side note, I really like tragus piercings.

Inspiration

So lately I've had quite a few people (like one person) ask me where I get my inspiration for outfits from. So in a fit of self obsessed boredom I've compiled a list of what/who inspires me with what I wear.
Okay so first off, the internet. I scour through website after website when I get home from school, Tumblr, Sydney Street Style, other fashion blogs, asos, topshop etc etc. Seriously, without the wonders of the internet I would be even more of a hermit only without semi-trendy clothes.

Secondly, magazines. Vogue is wonderful for ideas, although everything featured in it is so expensive I like to pretend I can afford it so try to find similar things.

Key people, Alexa Chung as an example is always very well dressed but not over the top, models off duty are always so trendy and you'd be hard pressed to find a model who's dressed appallingly.
This next bit is going to sound heaps lame and I'm sure that they might be reading this now (thank you Niamh) but in all honesty, my friends are actually the most well dressed people I know. They all have an individual style but are still so so trendy and know what suits them but aren't afraid to create groovy trends. They influence me quite a lot in terms of experimentation and what I buy.

Also, after a 14 odd years of dressing myself I know what colours suit me now and what styles work with my body and skin tone. Like, I wouldn't wear a cream dress because I know I'd look washed out and blend into the walls and that's just come from experience.

In saying all this, I can't pin down direct things that influence everything I wear. If I like something I'll get it, despite whether it's 'hip' and 'happening' or not. The amount of things that have been 'hip' and 'happening' yet almost bring me to tears due to sheer annoyance (think mullet skirts circa 2010-2011) You'd be far better off buying things that you like and look nice on you than something that's on the runways yet doesn't suit you.

hair.

Hair is something that can make or break a persons image, the cut, style, colour, length - it goes on and on and on. We all go through phases of hair styles, the amount of times I've been bored of my hair and taken the initiative to cut inches off it myself, with the end result being somewhat questionable. In the past 4 years of my life I've done dip dye, had a bob, grown it long, semi bleached it for a while and never been completely content with the end result. One of my friends came to school today with her hair that has been long the whole time I've known her cut short into this semi-bob that seriously looks amazing. The dilemma of my life (first world problems) is that now I want to cut my hair shorter. A couple of years ago this happened and I cut my hair into a bob and cried the whole way home from the hairdresser. It was too short to be in a pony tail, had this super awkward side fringe and I seriously think my hairdresser might have been high while cutting it.
I've also been looking up so many youtube channels about styling hair and now really want to rock a sock bun or a bow bun but I also want an Emma Watson-esque pixie cut and to bleach it like white blonde.
I do not understand why something that is basically a dead particle causes such grief.

Even guys seem to have hair issues, the Beiber hairstyle is over. Please do not re-live it. Also shaving your head looks stupid unless you have the natural face for it, or are doing it for charity.

So here's a list of hair styles that I'd really like to try at some point in my life

1. Pixie cut
2. Shave it all off (for the worlds greatest shave and apparently it's really good for your hair)
3. Reeeally long hair
4. Dye it brown
5. Shave half of it off
6. Go Abbey-Lee Kershaw's colour
7. Get some cornrow things happening.
8. Front fringe.

Okay here are some pretty pictures of hair

this is basically what my hair looks like now

Sock bun

I also really like Emma Watsons hair now that it's in the awkward growing out phase.

Okay Bye, Liv xo

Bargain Hunting.

Bargain Hunting has been something that I've been brought up with, something that my mum instilled in me from a very young age. So accordingly, like all things that you practice very often I've become a professional in the field. So much so that I'm writing a post about all my bargains and some of the best places (in Sydney) to get bargains.
Purchase number 1 - Ksubi Jeans. Usually a pair of high waisted Ksubi jeans would retail at around $240 which is crazy expensive yet to some, completely worth it. I never really have $240 spare so I never would think that I'd get a pair of these jeans until, I went to Surry Hills Markets a couple of months ago and picked up a pair of almost brand new high waisted Ksubi jeans for $30. I almost cried of joy, now not only do I look really rich when I wear them but I also have a beautiful pair of high waisted jeans that I get complemented on every time I wear them.
Moral of the story: Markets a seriously such a godsend for anyone who wants nice clothes but can't necessarily always afford them. Surry Hills markets are on the first Saturday of every month, Glebe Markets are every Saturday,  Rozelle Markets, Kirribilli Markets, Bondi Markets, Paddington Markets...seriously the opportunities are endless.
Purchase number 2 - Black Maxi Skirt. It's silky and has two splits up the side and was retailed at $140, in classic me fashion I didn't pay that much for it. Infact, I went to a warehouse sale not long ago and I picked this piece of loveliness up for $30. Another item where the compliments are ongoing.
Moral of this tale: Keep in the loop for fashion warehouse sales, Sass and Bide have them, MinkPink and just about every other brand under the sun. Usually they're around Oxford St so keep a look out, so worth it!
Purchase number 3 - These heels that I don't quite know how to explain but I got for a ridiculous price. They kind of look like Jeffrey Campbell Foxy's but not really. They're very nice though and were only $50 reduced from $150 because the shop was closing down. Shops closing down sucks but closing down sales are nice.
Internet Shopping - Asos, Urban Outfitters, Topshop, Princess Polly.. it goes on and on and on and on. So do the savings, particularly Asos. The plus side of living on the other side of the world from England is that when they're going into Summer, we're going into Winter so accordingly their Winter clothes are drastically reduced in cost just in time for the chilly seasonal change in Australia.

I could really go on for days but I'll stop there because I'm tired and have to be at school early tomorrow.
Byeee, Liv xo

Outfit Repeaterer.

When you're a sixteen year old student working two days a week at most, finding clothes that are cheap yet lovely can be a real challenge. While my lovely mother often buys me a few items here and there she doesn't quite understand the dilemma of being an 'outfit repeaterer'. Anyone who has seen the Lizzie McGuire Movie should remember the horror of Kate bluntly saying "Lizzie McGuire is an outfit repeaterer" to which Lizzie replied "Well you're an outfit rememberer which is just as bad!" Since the day I first watched this movie as a seven year old fashionista the worry of being an outfit repeaterer has been one that I've struggled with my whole life.
The problem is though, that when I find an outfit I really like I just want to wear it over and over again to show off just how cool and trendy I am. My next plan was to wear my cool new item of clothing over and over again but just with different groups of people so that nobody ever knew that I was being an outfit repeaterer. Then Facebook was invented and people started bringing cameras to events so my plan of wearing the same item of clothing all the time was foiled. So I decided to stay out of photos, which is hard when you're a self titled selfie queen and so accordingly feel the need to jump into every photo.
My next stroke of genius was to get more clothes or mix and match my super cool new outfits. Both of these ideas were sheer brilliance, but needless to say I did not have the time nor money to buy new clothes all the time. So I figured I'd just wear a few staple items now and then but with different accessories and shoes. The next issue I faced was that my one 'staple item' was a black skirt - needless to say it goes with everything. So I wear it with everything, thus continues the cycle of being an outfit repeaterer.

It really is an ongoing cycle that you can only really escape if you're mega rich and can afford loads of clothes or just very fashionable and can easily mix and match all of your trendy clothes without anyone noticing. Ah such is life.

Perfection.

I found myself the other night looking through countless images of beautiful models wearing beautiful clothes - and in all forms, being seemingly perfect. Whatever that may be. I've never been perfect, I never will be perfect and needless to say you'd be hard pressed to find someone who is. In saying this, the idea of 'being perfect' is something that plays on my mind every day. The strive that we, as humans have to be perfect - to be better than what we currently are.
This strive for perfection is something that while I accept, I don't fully understand. What makes someone's features more desirable that someone else's. Yeah, I wish I was Miranda Kerr but why is it that she is society's 'perfect woman' who men and women alike drool over.
Someone commented on a photo of mine on facebook the other day, essentially she said "your teeth are perfect now" As a bit of background information I've had braces for 18 months, while I've had people tell me that my teeth are perfectly straight I know that they're not. I am so much more critical on myself than anyone else is on me. Because, I'm striving for perfection - even though I know I won't reach it.
It's weird, how while perfection is something that people cry over it will never be reached by anyone, not ever. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing but for now it'll have to do.

Okay philosophical rant over, back to fashion posts from now.

military jackets and engineer boots

As of late I've been getting really into the semi-grunge military jacket and engineer boot look. I've been after a pair of engineer boots for quite a while now but after hours of searching the only ones I like are the Frye Engineer boots which are priced at $238 which is two and a half weekends pay for me (aw yeah eleven dollars an hour) so I think I'm going to convince mum to pay half and go for it because they are an investment and will go with my new military jacket. Which brings me to my next point. Words cannot describe my new found love for military jackets (think Kate Bosworth at Coachella 2012) I love how they can dress down a formal outfit, work so well with light floral prints and if they're mid thigh length it's just heaven. Thankfully after again searching I purchased one (or rather, mum purchased one for me) on Wednesday, all these photos attached of celebrities wearing military jackets are essentially what mine looks like. Seriously, when I get a pair of Frye engineer boots I can wear my Ksubi jeans which were yet another bargain, but I digress, my military jacket and the Frye Engineer boots (product placement anyone?) and I will be so set for winter.

It's basically exactly the same as Kate Bosworth's. Also, side note but I also really enjoy her gumboots.

Cassandra Rhodin

So not too long ago while looking for something inspiring to draw I came across these (+ so many more) beautiful illustrations by Cassandra Rhodin. She's a Swedish fashion illustrator and I think I may have fallen in love. I love the 1920's gloom mixed with high fashion glamour. Also, the fact that she used watercolour (which is like my favourite medium for painting) makes me fall in love even more. She's inspired me for my major work for my HSC.

When I was about seven I decided I wanted to be a fashion designer, with little knowledge of experience in the field I drew designs in class and even started my own fashion label. Time has since passed and my career choices have changed slightly and moved more into the range of journalism - preferably as a fashion journalist but we'll see what life throws at me. Essentially this is a blog (for all the thousands of you who undeniably will read this entry) that will aim to be be a practise run for me, where I'll share the trends I adore, my recent purchases and basic things to to with fashion that I love at the moment. So yes, hopefully keep on reading there's more to come. Liv xo
